Being More Seth

Don’t Be Silly! and Don’t Be Scared! featuring Seth and the Rainbow Monsters are children’s books with rainbow magic! Each book helps your children to be themselves and be brave, respectively.

Written by Laura Maclennan, hand illustrated by Kylie Dixon, edited by Alexa Tewkesbury and published and type set by Alexa Whitten at Compass Publishing, these are the must read books for every child aged 3-7 (though Real Seth and several other under 3 and over 7 love them too!)

Emboldened by the themes, children will be equipped with the understanding of how to #BeMoreSeth and #BeBrave as they head into schools, feeling safe and confident enough to call out bullying and intolerance based on appearances and beliefs. To be the ones to create a new cultural wave of celebrating difference, not just accepting it.

Laura is having a ball sharing the #BeMoreSeth magic!

Since Don’t Be Silly! was published in 2021, Laura has been in to several schools in the North East reading her stories and leading workshops, drama activities and crafting.

It is with immense pride that Laura is a regular featured author at Seven Stories in Newcastle and guest author at the recent Durham Book Festival.

The launch of the books in June, saw a fun morning of Rainbow Monster hunting, story telling and a visit to the Treehouse that Seth and the Rainbow Monsters built! It was a joy to see the children hunt the rainbows and fearlessly so.

Laura is delighted to have the support of local stockists such as Waterstones, BookyWyrm, Seven Stories and The Craft Fair Shop and she looks forward to her books being available in more independent bookshops soon as well as online.

Laura is also enjoying supporting small businesses as she creates merchandise and advertising for the Treehouse Crew. Rainbow Zoo, Purple Orchid Print, Delightfully Denim, Fizz & Giggles and CP Print are incredible businesses run by incredible women who have also, much like Seth and the Rainbow Monsters, been brave enough to be themsleves and live their dreams.
